We have been conditioned since many years to accept how we are living
our lives – the societal norms, attitudes, values, behaviours, and even so our
eating and drinking patterns, as NORMAL. Any deviations from the above set
patterns raise many eyebrows and receive much more exclamations! And questions?
“How can you live like this forever? How can you just eat this? You
will be undernourished, your body will not be able to take in any other
stuff…its not normal”…and it goes on and on!
In this rush of being and eating normal (standards set by people like
us) we completely mess up our health and are not able to gather the courage to
create a New Normal which ensures maximum health and longevity. Well, there are
some who did break the rules and many more who are breaking the normal rule.
They have started listening to their bodies’ requirements, feeding it what it
actually needs, which is naturally best suited and not solely for the taste.
It is said we are what we eat. Are we? My new learning says we are what
we digest and assimilate.
Constantly feeding our bodies fragmented foods, cooked foods and animal
foods, put great stress on them and eventually diseased conditions emerge which
unfortunately is also taken as ‘normal’…”oh after 40 yrs, this is expected..!
These are old age diseases…”etc.
So how do we create this ‘New Normal’?
First we need to understand the principles of nature, which also
governs our bodies like other material things. With this knowledge we should
experiment with various combinations and come to an optimum plan of nutrition
best suited to our individual bodies.
The 3 basic principles, which govern the Natural Hygiene, are:
-Whole foods are better than fragmented foods
-Raw foods are better than cooked foods
-Plant foods are better than animal foods
Formulating our New Normal diet along the above principles will ensure
a healthy and long life. Primarily the natural foods best suited to our bodies
are: Fruits, vegetables, Nuts and Seeds. These four groups give us all the
required nutrients to maintain a healthy body. The effects of such a diet are
seen on all levels: anatomically, physiologically and psychologically. We have
to practice it to experience it. Breaking the moulds of the past conditioning
and going past the false advertising of varied packaged, processed, fortified,
canned and denatured foods, the false claims of the processors and business
people about their products; which does nothing but disease our mind and bodies
in the long run.
There is ocean of knowledge and sea of information available. What we
actually need is to experiment and experience various aspects of life –
nutrition, exercise, spirituality, thoughts, ideas etc and then adapt in our
lives that which suits our body mind and spirit. This may change with every
stage of our experience and every learning that we do as a result….but the NEW
MORMAL always remains new because with us even it evolves! Now doesn’t that
make exciting and worth living?!
